I did not realize Dubas had traded that many 1st and 2nd rounders.. wow.
That's almost a Rutherford move. |

Having Matthews, Marner, Tavarez and company....not to mention a huge regular season last year, and even more promise heading into this year....I cannot envision a scenario where Dubas trades players for prospects. To say to his current roster and all Leaf-nation that he is giving up on the season to trade players for future assets just WILL NOT happen. He may not make the big move or moves necessary to get the type of defensive and grit help this team needs. But he WILL at the very least make a few cosmetic moves to address the Defense depth to "show" he tried to solidify the team and give them the tools they need.
In no way, will he deal Muzzin, Barrie, etc for picks. Just not the message the dressing room or the fan base will accept. |

Like trading for a Muzzin type? You’re right. Dubas would never do that. |

Having 6 Muzzin types won't matter if the glory boys are too entitled and lazy to backcheck or fight through a check.

If the core players are the problem then the Leafs should just strip it down and start over again. Can’t win with these guys, just like with Kessel and Phaneuf. Tank and rebuild again and again... |

or we could hope they grow up and actually give a poop at some point in their careers, preferably while they are Leafs.

Can the Leafs afford to wait for that to happen? The window is closing in a year apparently. |

If that was the first time they looked horrible this year OR if the hot streak didn't coincidentally occur during the only time they had legitimate starting goaltending behind them, there would be less panic.
Oh, and there is no panic |

This is a surprisingly reasonable post, and I agree.
I think and kind of hope he aquires another defender for us if possible. The only way I see him trading someone like Barrie is if he's getting back another good defender with more term, which isn't very likely unless he adds to Barrie.
I doubt Muzzin goes at all. We need him. |

Good teams never go on short losing streaks. It is definitely time to panic. |

Leafs two points out of wild card playing much better for Keefe. The team is built to score. Expecting them to be super responsible in their own end doesn't seem realistic. I'm not a member of Leaf nation but that team is super entertaining to watch. |

I think the only way they trade Barrie is if they are pretty much out of it at the deadline.

Sounds about right. I know a few posters were going on about how we'll lose him after this year and so we should trade him, but that's never going to happen if we're in the playoff race. Dubas didn't acquire the guy just to trade him at the deadline lol. He got him to help us and be our rental, not someone else's. Or who knows, maybe he has some plan in how he's going to resign him, although I don't see how. |
